In actuality it was the database design, the table had many foreign keys attached to it. I didn't design the database...

I am at a loss why the delete statement...

Well I believe if you only restart the "SQL Server Agent" service that would work and still keep your databases running.
You'll have to examine the specific jobs that are hanging....

Local Admin, Domain Admin, or something else?Is the service running off of a service account or is it running off network service or something else?

Good suggestion steveb, the main reason I am hesitant about express addition is backup capabilities. I suppose the same goes with the other open source alternatives, they don't have...

Yes the log file is set to autogrow by 10% (which was 100MB), I have set this to 50MB now.
The database is in FULL recovery mode.
There are no log backups...
