Wine Database

  • I want to start a little databse of what wines I've drunk, when I drank them, where they came from and how I rated them ect., that kind of thing. I was wondering if anyone had done this kind of thing already and would be knind enough to script it out.

    Thanks for looking.

  • I would have one table that would be a "master" table - would have wineID, Region, Name, color, Year

The other table would have wineID (foreign key), datedrank, rating

Is this what you were looking for ?!

  • Perhaps searching for something in the freeware listings would be beneficial.

I think this one uses Access as the db, but there may be others available with SS backsides.

  • Hm, I would rather drink another good one, than think about a schema for this just for fun.

Anyway I think most wine guides like Hugh Johnson's are available on CD. And most include some kind of freeware app that let's you do this.

  • I'd have to agree with Frank, why waste valuable drinking time looking to design a DB to track the wines you like/have drunk

  • I drink, get drunk, fall unconcious, wake up, recover, forget whether I liked the wine the previous night or not, cannot impress chicks with knowledge of good wines, have slightly less chance of feeding the pony.

    Options available

    - Go for chicks who prefer cider and black (no need to impress).

    - Don't bother trying to remember what wines I've had, or if I liked them.

    - Spend a little time to track my wine consumption and pretend to be a boffin infront of the lovely young ladie I've only met once before, and be able to say - would you like to come back to my place and help me pop my cork.

I prefer option 3 at the moment.

  • Heyhey, you mix up something here. Wine is nothing to drink like beer or other alcoholica.

But from your given alternatives, I would also opt for #3 (of course, without the "young lady". I'm married )

  • At least you're doing it for the right reasons, to get drunk and impress the ladies

Although comming from the North East of England I tend to find that most of them prefer pints to wine (real classy ladies)

  • Getting drunk impresses the ladies ?!?! Certainly never seen that pick-up line before - a guy falling senseless at my feet...ahh - maybe that's what it is - you don't see that he's drunk - only knocked out by your beauty...<:-)

**ASCII stupid question, get a stupid ANSI !!!**

  • Obviously the getting drunk and impressing the ladies were refering to 2 entirely seperate parts of the evening (or if some of the sorry states i've seen people in are to be belived seperate parts of the same decade)

  • You're a lady?

Äh women, female...What word do I use in this context?

  • Frank - no one has ever accused me of being a lady yet...

However, I am "classy" in that I can down a couple of pints and still stay on my feet.

Talking of "downing" - don't knock the German wines...your beers may be good but I'd swear by the Rieslings anyday...

  • Blue Nun anyone.

Does sushila need a guy? a chick who can down several pints and knows how to fine tune a SQL server has got to be in high demand.

  • Must not comment.........

  • That was neither an accusation nor meant offending.

I was just implying from your comment a guy falling senseless at my feet within the context. HAve I missed the answer or is your gender a secret?
