Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • Folks, if you ever get the chance to let Brandie do a review of one of your pieces, do so. I'm afraid to see what she'd do to a piece she didn't like, but it's incredibly thorough.

    Thanks again, Brandie.

Let me clarify. Streaming as in windows media player streaming of a video. It should work fine on any reasonable internet connection.

True - but taking it offline is quite desirable from time to time. Microsoft has made the MCM videos available for download, surely PASS could make the HOP presentations available for download too.

Offline? What's that? They will be available for viewing later, which is nice, since I might miss half of Gail's driving home.

Should we have a bake sale to get you some souped-up satellite 'net?

  • I also don't see the point in not offering downloads. Not like it couldn't require a login or a page view to get them.

The Windows Media streaming sucks. Never seems to buffer like Flash and so if you have a crappy connection, it's always a crappy experience throughout the playback. With flash, I can let it download (buffer) and at least have it smooth while I watch in 10 minutes.

  • So Gail - how did your presentation go? I'm sorry that I couldn't see it.

  • Well, I caught the last ten minutes of it. Got to cut out of work early so I just started watching them. Seemed to go well.

Awesome. Great fun. Timing went perfectly too (for once)

Trying to figure if I managed to not insult anyone. Developers twice, DBAs once, Robert Davis once (why is an MCM asking questions in a presentation?), Microsoft once, the query optimisation team once. Did I leave anyone out?

  • Nice job, Gail, and I didn't think you insulted Robert. I think sometimes they are asking to learn something (they don't know everything) and sometimes just giving you a hard time. Sometimes they are trying to get you to talk about a hole they might have seen. Paul's done that to me.

Don't forget Australia (though not in the session itself, unless I missed that).

Thoroughly enjoyable viewing, and great to finally hear what you sound like.

Nah, it's alright. We're used to being forgotten. Used to being insulted too 🙂

Now I really want to see it! Good job on insulting any and all... sounds like Jeff and his pork chop launcher might be rubbing off on you!

No, that was on twitter afterwards.

I suspect it was the latter. That's why I ribbed him a bit then answered the question.
