That will work for 2000 and 2005; what about 7? Is there a way to find the backup/recovery model of a database in sql 7?

Do you have backups? If so, restore from the backup with replace option. mdf, ndf, and log will be rebuilt for you.

Both are in place as mentioned above by Jason; however, the mini dumps are still occuring in c:\....\log
