Well that seemed to work, except that it took 5 minutes to execute! 🙁

I would probably use a view to do this I think that's best for these circumstances.
here's the tables anyway. The view I have connects these tables and another one....

thinking this through I guess I would create some views than the user would just choose the view and the columns form the view instead of an actual table.

thanks Guys I ended up using eights Idea and created a function like so

this seems very logical to me. where would i do the setdatefirst? within a select query or some other variable? assume if i setdatefirst=3 then start day would be tuesday...

1. removing the deduction records won't help me since that requires user interaction which is the whole reason for this issue

looks like the distinct may work, I am curious to know how does it know which empid to insert? does distinct it automatically pick the highest id first?
