That's implied, but not stated, in the TechNet article.
I suggested via Connect they update the article to avoid confusion going forward.

We were seeing these errors as well.
We checked out the SAN - all clear.
Once we stopped Diskeeper 2010 with Hyperfast (build 14.0.900.0), the errors stopped.

I ran into the same issue on my desktop; only SSIS and SSRS services were displayed in Cfg Mgr.

I agree Management Studio is a step in the right direction. Let's hope it's more stable than EM.
