RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

  • For couple of years I had a can of tuna in my drawer.

I did not put it there, I inherited it together with the drawer from a collegue who left the company.

After a year or so after discovering the item I asked him on a BBQ - why was it placed in there?

His reply was "dunno. it was there when I started. It was left there by the previous guy."

Do I need to mention that when I left the company the tuna was on its place in the drawer?

    🙂

oh come on... you know you're curious 😉

I was an Oracle DBA in a previous lifetime (over 10 years ago) it's a very different world than SQL Server, even though they're both big name RDBMS. I don't think I'd appreciate SQL Server as much if I didn't have those Oracle years in my history.
