Upgrade from SQL2000/NT to SQL2000/Win2000

  • Hello all!

    Here's my question:

We are running SQL server 2000 on a NT-server box. We want to upgrade the OS to windows 2000. Do i need to uninstall SQL server 2000 first, do the OS-upgrade and then re-install the sql server and restore it's db's? Or is it just fine to keep sql server 2000 on the server while upgrading ?

    Many thanks in advance:

  • Its ok to leave it there for the upgrade. Typically I like to do a clean install of everything - move the data (or rename the folder), format/reinstall all, then put the data back. Nothing like a nice clean machine. Probably overkill, but doesnt that much longer to do.
