Greetings,
I have a column field that is varchar(6400). I have tried to copy and paste text into a particular row of this column using Enterprise Manager and it does not take the full text, however when I use the update function, SQL allows the column row to be updated with the full text. This is not holding me up on anything, but I am just curious about it. Obviously, the max row size of 8000 bytes is not being affected since using the update function worked. Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently EM only supports pasting of up to 1024 chars.
This limitation is seriously under-documented.
There's no workaround that I know of.

What about if you have an existiny rowentry of lets 1010 characters, and I would like to paste in 30 additional characters. Will EM allow this to happen?

I don't think so. I tried it with no success.

It's a limitation of the GUI. Personally I would stick to a front end app for data entry or use QA if you have to do an adhoc insert.
