Unable to contact a DHCP server

  • Unable to contact a DHCP server. The Automatic Private IP Address 169.254.130.221 will be assigned to dial-in clients. Clients may be unable to access resources on the network.

  • This is a networking issue, not a SQL Server issue. What it means, basically, is that your RAS/VPN server isn't providing an IP address. If you were connecting on a network and got this, it would mean that your network engineers didn't put in an ip helper to forward the DHCP server request or that you should have been assigned a static IP.

In any case, you need to speak with your network engineers to solve this.
