I was trying to find an answer to this, but, does the publishing database name and subscriber database have to be the same name?

Nope, they can have different names

The same applies to articles, the source table name can differ to the destination.

Thanks, I thought that was the case but I couldn't find any info but I could have tried it out. But thanks for this information.
