You probably know this, but Paul Randal is an avid history reader and he seems to manage to get through a huge number of books each year. He publishes a list at the end of the year with his favourites etc. and I've often chosen some reads from his list, often things I would not have found / chosen.
He did something a bit different for end 2020 https://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/paul/2010s-the-decade-in-books/
so 2019 is the last year of his normal "The year in books" blog post https://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/paul/2019-the-year-in-books/
and links to earlier years https://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/paul/category/books/
and then there are the statistics that he chooses to log https://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/paul/2020-review-the-year-by-the-numbers/
Seems like "If you want something doing ask a busy person" applies 🙂

If you like Sharp's, also read Bernard Cornwall's The Fort. Read it cold, no previews. About a forgotten episode in the American Revolution. And Paul Revere.

Always loved the Sharpe books - not great literature, but evoked something well.

I read The Fort. I've also read Cornwall's books about the battle of Agincourt. And the Last Kingdom. He's got some great stuff.

Nicely said, Grant. I've always liked learning about history, also. Perhaps it's time to return to it.
Love the tag line too!
