SSIS Configuration Help on 3 node Cluster

  • We have built a new 3 node SQL 2005 Cluster environment and have not configured SSIS as a clustered resource. Can anyone please help with some suggestions as to how to setup SSIS.

I have read that it's possibly better to setup a folder structure like, the one below to store package configurations; log files etc.

    SSIS

    |---- CheckpointFiles

    |---- Configurations

    |---- ErrorFiles

    |---- Logs

    |---- Packages

    |---- RawFiles

We were advised by the consultants implementing the SQL Cluster that it was best to use MSDB to store SSIS packages, is this true?

Best to use XML configuration files or database?

The above folder structure best to be setup on shared drive, setup as a cluster resource?

Any help or pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Stephen

  • We are using the setup that you have described and its working well.

  • Thanks for the reply but can you please clarify.

Where did you implement that folder structure? As a shared folder setup as a clustered resource or on c: drive?

Are you storing packages in folder structure or in msdb?

    Thanks

  • We have the packages stored on msdb. The other folders which store log files, error files, temp storage etc are on a separate physical drive which is shared between the nodes.

    Hope that helps.
