SQLServer 2008 EnterpriseEvaluation Edition - Trail

  • Hi,

How to find the expiration date for SQLServer 2008 Enterprise Evaluation Edition - Trail version before it got expired ? as we know it's 180-day trail software.

    and

How to upgrade from trail version ?

    Please advise.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Ravi.

  • >> Open Management Studio

    >> On the menu bar click on Help

    >> About

should show how many days left.

    to Upgrade:

    1. Start the SQL Server Installation Center

    2. Select "Maintenance"

    3. Click "Edition Upgrade"

some folks advise against doing this and prefer fresh installation.

  • Thanks for your valid inputs.

How we can activate licence key for SQLServer2008 R2 Enterprise Evaluation Edition (trial version) ? as it will expires in another 30 days.

Does it require downtime during licence key activation ?

Does it require rebooting server/restarting SQLServices after licence key activation ?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Ravi.

  • Hi All,

Can someone please give me a quick heads-up on this ?

When I upgraded my Eval to DataCenter for testing purpose I had no downtime. As I had installed all the packages in the Eval edition. It takes the key and within a minute or two it was upgraded to Data Center edition.

I would suggest to test once before u try it on production. You never know whether it will prompt for a restart.:-)

  • Hi Hakuna Matata,

Thanks for your valid inputs/reply in time !!

Sure, I'll check this on testing envi and update on Production.

    Best Regards,

    Ravichandra.
