SQL Server Performance Problems

  • I agree with Kramer on looking at OLAP and OLTP.  Are the queries needing to lock the table or could you put (nolock) on some of the statements.  I wonder if you are getting blocks because you mentioned even having a tough time connecting with Query Analyzer.  When that happens do you check sp_who2 (something populated in blkby) or current activity in EM for blocked processes.
