SQL Server 2008 Upgrade failed

I have SQL Server 2008 Standard x64. I was trying to upgrade this version to SQL Server 2008 Enterprise R2. And I did upgrade successfully and then restarted the Server also.
But, when I start the SQL serevr I see tat the Product version is still
10.0.4000.0SP2Standard Edition (64-bit).
and when I go to Help--About options I see that the version is 10.50.1600.1. Which is R2 version.
I am very confused what went wrong. Can someone help me out please.

When you start SQL Server, you see a product version?

Or do you mean SSMS?

If SSMS, did you upgrade the tools too? My bet is no.

Then either the installation failed or you're looking at the wrong instance

and when I go to Help--About options I see that the version is 10.50.1600.1. Which is R2 version.

Help-> about just gets you the version of the client tools. It's got nothing to do with the version of the server

when I upgraded I upgraded all the tools also.

And by the looks of things the database engine upgrade failed and the tools upgrade succeeded. I'd be looking through the upgrade logs at this point for the reason for the DB engine not to have been upgraded.
