SQL Server 2008 Certified Training

  • hi All,

Maybe this question is not really for this forum.

I am looking at getting MCITP Certified for database development 2008

    microsoft exams 70-433 and 70-451

Financing it myself i am considering be doing it remotely (the cheapest)

is there any one out who has done it this way

and recommend any courses/web sites out there to look at

    and your experiences

  • What is meant by 'doing remotely'?

    M&M

Here is a good place to start, also I would recommend reading up

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-433&locale=en-us#tab2

to know what skills are required.

There are also some exam simulators out there but they are not be used as a short cut to getting certified. Make sure you go thru the

book MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-433): Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - Database Development

An actually try getting hands on experience.

Last but not least Good luck

  • hi Mohammed/Jayant

thx for getting back so quick

Mohammed - remotely meant doing it by myself.. doing self study and eventually sitting the exam

Jayant -.Out of interest did you do it this way ? ..you went through the self paced training kit

and then sat the exam or did you also go to some exam simulator sites as well before sitting it.

and if so what were they

Do you see the self paced training kit as the "bible" for this exam or is any others as well

    i should look at

I did the 70-433 exam by self-study using the self-paced training kit.

It is quite a good book, but it lacks in some areas. (especially XML)

    I've posted my preparation here:

  • hi Koen,

Just read yr post (many congrats on passing the exam by the way).

You and Jayant have convinced me now this is the way to go...

have took note of it being XML light

nice to get the steer from fellow developers (guys in the trade) and their

    experiences/recommendations before embarking on it

  • I didn't do 70-433 but the study plan is usually the same for most exams. The key here is to find what works for you.

After many years experience may be just the self study kit is enough , with few years maybe a classroom session might be worth it. It all depends on how much effort your willing to put into it.

I read in a previous post that Gail did it without any prep at all :D.

  • Gail rarely needs to do prep. She's so immersed in the internals that she already knows most of what's going to be on the exam. It helps that she rescues endangered databases from their abusive owners on a regular basis. @=)
