SQL Remote connection - Management studio express

  • Hi,

I am trying to connect to a remote SQL server 2005 using SQL Management Stuido Express. I have looked for hours at forumns to try and fix this error but had no luck. I have tried all the obivious, turning the firewall off, making sure the server allows remote connections.

I'm pulling my hair out so any help might save a few strands 🙂 Thanks

  • In Express and the developer edition you must enable both remote and local, TCP/IP and Named Pipes and turn on the browser service so you could register the remote SQL Server.

    Kind regards,
