SQL Backup tool

  • We are planning to take a thirdparty backup tool, which does compression, encryption and copying bakup file to a offline location using ftp(for diaster recovery)

Please let me know whethere any tool is there that supports ftp.

  • Had used LiteSpeed and SQLSafe before and they both does compression, encryption. With LiteSpeed you can take backup and save file on different network.

ftp ? I doubt. Have no idea.

    SQL DBA.

  • I've used both Redgate and LiteSpeed in the past for backup operations.

I did not use ftp with either of them but rather saved the backup files to a different network.

Being able to FTP might be a "nice" feature, however I wouldn't consider it to be a selling point unless your ftp session is encrypted and secure. Even if a product does not have ftp, it isn't difficult to setup a windows task to check for a backup file, and then to copy / ftp that file to a new location.
