Rowlevel Compression

    Good Day, I read that SQLS erver 2008R2 is supporting rowlevel compression and I also read that some columns will not benefit from rowlevel compression. My question is this : Will there be serious overhead when records containing compressed data are processed (when the majority of columns contain compressed data)

    That really depends on the type of data, transaction load, and many other factors. It also depends on what your definition of "serious overhead" is. Can you build your scenario a bit more for us?
