Row_number() in SQL 2000 ...

  • I'll have to disagree here FP.  I think the problem is solved.  Just as Jeff said (and I said in my first post), an IDENTITY column will be required for this to work.  You may not have one already, but you can surely read your rows into a temporary structure that does.  At that point, pick a solution as there is more than one solution here that will work for you.

    Funny how your tag-line rang true here... you never did get back to us like you promised, FP... Must be the "true love" you spoke of, eh? 😛

  • Its takes one to spot one 😀 ... i have been busy in migration 2000 to 2005 with dts and one particular BI project, but this should not be taken as an excuse. Well who i am kidding ... its the only excuse i can put forward 🙂 I'll try not to be "true love" anymore.

  • A keen observation you have Jeff, I'll give you that 🙂 Yes I am in the middle of this identity crisis.

    Thanks

  • Heh... another keen observation is that you still haven't told us how things worked out. 😉
