Reporting services and using multiple datasets.

  • Hi all,

I am in the process of converting some of our Crystal Reports into RS. All going fine but... I've got about 5 reports that return multiple datasets (one of the stored procedures returns about 5 data sets).Because of the design of the DB and the information being returned I can't combine them together. BOL says that you can't use more than one data set with RS, which in my opinion is really bad. Now the question.. Does anyone know of any way that I would be able to return multiple data sets from the same sproc??? or any other way of sorting it out.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Arick

  • I am using stored procedures in the 'data' tab to pull multiple datasets.  This seems to work well.

example:  (name of dataset) land, land1, etc...  exec <name of proc> then you need to select the appropriate field name from the fields tab in your layout..  You can then utilize the Preview tab to see what your report will look like..  Did this answer your question on how to get multiple datasets back in your report?  Sheila...
