Ports used by MSSQL

  • Well..first of all I thank everyone here for the knowledge I gained from you guys.

The problem repeated here and now we are planning to change the Port No of our application to something greater than 5000 and i think its port 5000 which is the last one used by MSSQL.

  • Hi Folks

here is an article that I digged from MSDN...from this can anybody find a solution so that the OS does not allocate port 5000.

  • Glad to hear you found a solution to your problem. This was the point I was attempting to relay to you all along that RPC = Multiprotocol which does assign ports dynamically. I still prefer sockets because it is easier (at least for me) to troubleshoot and design network infrustructures around than Multiprotocol due to its more predictable nature.

Good luck with your project. J
