Ninja, I think you ended up quoting the wrong post.

Yup. But you're smart enough so that I don't have to go back and edit it.

That's what I love so much about you man ;-).

You know, I think there's a bug on this site. I've hit the Quote button above a message and it comes up with the wrong message. I'm sure I selected the right button so I try it again and get a different message again. Once I refresh the page, then the right message comes up. I believe the message Id's change or something.

You're not crazy (about that anyways). There's a session bug, Steve knows about it but I'm not sure it's on the fix it <ever> list.

As you said, hit back, refresh and it should work. It happens when someone posts a new message after the page has been loaded. The quote "misaligns" by 1 up for every new post.

  • I think the Quote button works by inverted position on the page, not by ID.

You can use it easily on an earlier page than the most recent one without the bug showing up, regardless of how active that thread is. But if you use it on the last page, you get different posts depending on how many new posts there have been since you loaded the page.

It's the kind of thing some "clever" developer has to have come up with as a shortcut to something.

Makes sense. IIRC correctly Steve had mention something about session when I talked to him about it. Maybe he can confirm :-).

  • So I have been reading through these posts and I can not stop laughing.

I love that people are actually claiming that we need to look to the government because CEO's are greedy and currupt. Man every time I see that it gets funnier. I live in IL where back room deals and curruption is a science. IL poloticians our president included would not lift a fingure to save a drowning child unless they directly got something out of it.

Government's role in human civilization is application of force. So, the moment it moves outside of defense against force, it turns into a problem, not a solution. Simple as that.

Exactly right. Too much government control makes us into a socialist country. Socialism has been proven to fail by looking at countries like England and Canada. Since healthcare is provided to everyone, try go see a doctor when you get a heart attack and hope you get seen within their 3 hour limit. There's no incentive to be a doctor in those countries so you have a shortage.

3 HOURS for hear attack? Where the heck did you get that info? 99.9999% of the time when there's an emergency like that you get treated immediatly. And P.S. you don't get stuck with the bill either way !

So what's defense of force? Do civil rights count or are we only looking at invasion by a foreign government?

I'm not sure I agree here that it's just force. I think government needs to provide a framework and "bumpers" against us getting too far in one direction. IMHO, unbridled capitalism is just as bad as socialism.

  • I don't know how the new healthcare bill works and Ive heard that it stinks but I have been on Medicare since I was on dialysis in 2002. I was admitted to hospital in 2003 with congestive heart failure which is close to a heart attack and I was seen right away and took priority over other emergency room patients.

I've been on private insurance and some are better than Medicare but generally as long as the doctors don't go crazy, it pays for what I need. I have a higher co-pay (20 percent) but as long as I pay the 2- percent up front (hospitals are now requiring this), I don't have any problems.

Sorry, I'm not having that. Our NHS here in England is fantastic. Not only will you get seen instantly with a heart attack, but you don't get asked if you have insurance before you get treated.

My dad was saved by the NHS when he had his heart attack, and he gets all the pills he has to take now for free. I've read tales of people in the states too scared to go to the doctors when they're between jobs, because they won't be able to get insured if he discovers something that might count as a pre-existing condition. I really don't understand how any of you can think that's better.

Socialism hasn't been proven to fail in this country, thank you very much. What little we have of it works very well. And we don't have a shortage of Doctors here. It's a well paid position. Not only have we got plenty of our own, but doctors from throughout the world come here to practise at some of the most renowned hospitals in the world. We get a lot wrong here, but our healthcare is damn good if you ask me. It's something we're very proud of.

I apologise on the behalf of my fellow Americans. We rarely seek truth anymore and simply make one that fits our own personal beliefs. The health care bill that passed should never be compared to anything you are doing as it is an insult to your fine system to be compared to that travesty of political posturing.

You ask "Watch much Fox News" and you are the one with ???????

The Problem is hardley contained to Fox News. Both sides of the political spectrum simply make stuff up and report it as news. Case in point Keith Olberman and Bill Mahr. Although in the case of the latter. He is given a pass by Democrats to say the most vile things imaginable about any Rep. That goes doble if they are female.
