  • Is there a way that we can automate this through maintenance task ?

  • Automate what? Your question has no context.

  • Apologize I created a maintenance task to backup my MSSQL database and I realized that that I need to encrypt it before I put the file to a tape is there a way that I can encrypt it through maintenance tasks on each backup ?

  • SQL 2005 does not have any native backup encryption options. SQL 2008 does (TDE).

  • To encrypt the backup in 2005, you may want to explore a third party utility.
