MS Access Database Connection Problem

  • I have developed a MS Access database application with tables attached to a SQL Server via ODBC on my pc.  The development SQL Server is also on my PC.  I convert the MS Access to a .mde and distribute it to our district offices where they have ODBC connections to their local SQL Servers.  Just recently, MS Access has started retaining the link in the Access database to the SQL Server - if I delete or change the ODBC DSN to a different database it still retains the old connection in Access - hence I have had to build separate .mde databases for every district office.  The only thing that has happened to my PC since it started is some Microsoft patches.  Have I accidently turned something on or is there some setting somewhere so that I can build only one application for all districts?

  • I have found that ADP's are more transportable than ODBC's.  I cant explain what is happening with the ODBCs but the problem may go away using an ADP.
