mirroring, do file locations have to be identical on both servers?

    Ive recently inherited a system. The database files are all muddled up, with logs on the same drives as data files.

    I want to move them, but theres a mirror of the server.

    the files on the mirror are in the same locations as the mirror server is of identical configuration as the main server.

    if i move files around on the main server, does the location have to match perfectly on the mirror server?

    you dont need to have the files in the same place
