Another option, since you're using SSIS, is to create a Script Task, use the System.IO namespace, and delete the files that way.

Is that using powershell? I've not had time to play around with it at all, but I'm very curious to. I suspect that everything I've used t-sql for there is an alternate way to do with powershell.
