I uninstalled SQL Server after uninstallation i run the setup exe file for the new installation but its giving an error 'The application failed to initialize properly(0xc0150004).'

  • I am having the EXACT same issue and haven't yet been able to resolve it myself. Please help us resolve this.

  • This problem occurs because the service environment does not read the Windows registry to obtain the most recent changes to Windows environment variables.

First check, echo %PATH% in CMD prompt & find out SystemRoot path e.g "c:\winnt" or "c:\windows"

Check whether systemroot path is set correctly for Win 2003? If not, reset SystemRoot in cmd.exe environment

And restart the system once! Please revert if you face any issues!
