im new on sql

  • how do i run sql on windows 2000 server

  • well, you install it.

SQL Server installs at least 3 tools to let you work with the database.

First, the stand-by command-line tool, osql.

Next, the graphical equivalent (but it's WAYYYY better than SQL*PlusW for Oracle): isqlww

Finally, you can do limited querying stuff in the Enterprise Manager, in addition to all the other rich admin stuff, including visually designing DTS packages.

Or, you can link to the DB with Access, get data (and open MS Query from) into Excel, etc.

  • This is a very broad question!!  If you need help in setting up SQL server, my company can do an on-site or on-line session with you to get you started.
