    Seriously though, I was aware of those considerations Adam, that's why I said "Try *something like* this:" when usually I just say "Try this:". The OP's situation wrt to the matching conditions was somewhat ambiguous (as expanded by one of the OP's later replies) so I posted it with the intent that they would refine it to suit.

    As for the scanning issue, that was already inherent in the OP's orginal, incomplete query and the OP wasn't asking for the performance to be fixed.
