HOw to reset SSIS package password

  • How do i reset an SSIS package password??(without knowing the old password)...BI developer who created and maintained this package left the company, so nobody knows the password and now i have to run the package

  • You could call the guy and see if he'll tell you. If he doesn't you could always threaten him with a lawsuit, i hate to be that guy but you have certain obligations even when you leave a company and I would view this as one of them..

    It can't be recovered.

However, depending on what is encrypted you might not be entirely screwed. If it was just protected information then all that is lost is probably passwords. That is likely to be repairable.

But if the whole package was encrypted the password is required.

Does it ask for the password when you open it or does it do something else?

  • Yes it's asking for the passwords when i open package

  • Does the box that comes up say "The sensitive data in package" or "The package "packagename" is encrypted"?

The first one you can probably get around, the later one you are gonna have to get the password. Even if it requires threats. Otherwise, you'll have to rebuild..
