How to Recover Data If Mdf File is Corrupt or Damaged

  • Hi All

There is one scenario that is asked by interviewer in one interview

My Server which is running on server 2003 is totally crashed and I have only one full database backup of two days old and the mdf file is totally damaged and now we have only one ldf file.

What is option to recover whole data up to time.

    Please Help me

    Thanks & Regards

    Ghanshyam

  • Look up Tail-log backup in SQL's books online (I'm not going to outright give you the answer to an interview question)

However that's only an option if the DB is in full recovery and, if the DB is in full recovery there's unlikely to be just a 2 day old full backup.

  • When you get the answer, post it, i would be interested to know what you come up with 😛

Had a quick look at what you suggested Gail, very interesting, nice to know
