  • Since the Import/Export wizard creates an SSIS package, you can save the package, then view it in BIDS to try to resolve the error.

What is the destination column type and size? Are you migrating all columns in the table?

  • i'm migrating all columns. the problem is the image column, which i have read cannot be used in import/export. (still don't fully understand why!) i have not found a suitable alternate method yet. i find articles using textcopy, but they are doing it for single rows. how to export all rows? i can't be doing this row by row. my table has over 1000 rows.

Are the 2 databases on the same SQL Server?

Are you sure you are using SQL Server 2008 (based on the forum you are posting in)? I have successfully used the import/export wizard in 2008 SP2 to migrate an image column.

  • with integration you can copy image. I use a IS pkg to export image avery day, and I'm talking about 1Tb of images... where did you read that you can't?

  • I had same problem when I tried to move image columns from SQL server to Oracle, there was about 1,500,000 record,

I used row_num() to move 200,000 record each time, So I suggest reduce the number of record you want to move.

How much record do you want to move ?

Is there any encryption in your data table?
