exam 70-229

  • Hi all,

I'm new comer. it's so quite here?

is there anyone know other good sites for sql server certification (mockup, discussion, free exam cram etc)? like javaranch.com -> for java community.

is exam 70-029 (sql server 7) still worth to take, is it easier? or better do sql server 2000? But so many updates in 2000 regarding its xml capabilites?

what are the good books for 70-299 exam? I have Pro Sql Server 2000 by Robert Viera. I found not many exam books in Amazon.com. is sql server exam not so popular?

    many thanks,

    anthony

  • I'd go with which ever one you have more experience with. If you're not experienced with either one yet then I think SQL2000 makes more sense. No idea about study sites - I recommend buying 2-3 good books of which one should be an exam prep. Read those and get experience, then take the test.

  • Most of the study sites center around dumps of the questions and really this is not teaching you anything other than what the test has on it. The problem with it is you have no experience or true knowledge this way. I personnally like the Exam Prep books and some of the MS Press Books, but I would suggest downloading the 120day copy and test everyhting you read (hands on is always more interesting).

  • Well as the co-author of he Sybex book on 70-229, I have a resource out there in print.Seriously, I took 229 and 29 and thought 229 was a better exam (more fair), but easier. The 7 exam had some tricky questions that didn't seem to really look for knowledge, more memory questions.

With experience, any book out there should prepare you. If you have not taken any MS exams, it can be strange and the Transcenders do a good job of simulation, but be sure you take them when you think you are ready, not to study with.

  • I took both 029 and 229. i would say go for the SQL 2000 exams because there wasn't that much additional material covered, in my opinion. The cert looks better since it's on the latest software.

I used mcsebraindumps.com. but I have also used SQL Server (since 6.5) for 5 years. Nothing substitutes for experience.

Also, in my opinion, there were several 'trick' questions in the 029 exam that really just wanted to see if you were awake, not really so much as test you. The 229 exam has more real-world question that test your knowledge rather than your alertness.
