Enterprise vs Standard SQL

  • Microsoft used to have a web page that explained the differences between SQL Enterprise and Standard. Does anybody have this address or know the differences between the two from an Analysis Services standpoint.

    Thanks

  • In BOL there is a page which is titled "Features Supported by the Editions of SQL Server 2000" - it has a section for analysis services.

  • The primary difference is Partitioning. With standard edition you may create only 1 partition per cube (actually, the partition is created automatically). With enterprise edition you may create as many partitions as you like.

It's interesting to note that you may maintain multiple partitions (created with enterprise edition) with standard SQL but cannot create them.
