Easy IDE for sql 2000 for non-admin type

  •

My boss wants me to find an ide for sql server. The scenario is that we have a user that is used to access (using linked tables) to manage on database. My boss doesnt want to use access, and wants a desktop app that connects directly to sql server using tcp/ip and is not sql server manager itself.

We had found a web based app that was perfect, but he didnt want it to be web based. The end user is not a dba, but is pretty good at access, so it would need to be a simple tool to allow this person to add/delete/update tables, do searches on columns and such, and show foreign key relations like access does. Basically a replacement for access that doesnt use odbc or is not access.

    I've tried these so far:

    http://www.teratrax.com/tdm/

    http://www.sqlmanager.net/products/mssql/manager

    http://www.sqlvisualizer.com/Default.aspx

The closest one to match what i need is sql visualizer, but would like the foriegn key lookup ability access has.

    thanks,

    john

  • You can try Aqua Data Studio (http://www.aquafold.com/index-sqlserver.html).

I have used that for a variety of RDBMS on Windows, Linux, and MacOSX.  It is sort of like Query Analyzer; including an object browser and even Intellisense functionality.
