can't connect slq 2005 from slq 2000

    dear all,

    i want to make a new sql registration using sql server 2000 but there is some error msg "A Connection could not be establish to slq2005"

    Reason : to connect this server you must use Sql management studio or sql management object (SMO)

    why this thing can be happen?why slq 2000 can't connect to database server which using slq 2005?

    Hi,

    You cannot connect to SQL 2005 using SQL Enterprise Manager, because its same like you cannot restore a 2005 backup file to 2000...but through query analyzer you can connect to bith 2000-2005, but you can connect to 2000 using SSMS, its backward compatibility.
