Cannot delete maintenance plan created by former employee

  • I know how to delete sub plans and jobs from the tables in msdb. However, even having done that, there are two maintenance plans that still display in the Management Studio tree. There were created by a former employee whose account (in Windows) has just now been deactivated. I cannot delete them with my account (even though I'm sysadmin level).

Does anybody have a clue how to delete these and stop them from displaying?

    Thanks,

    Brent

  • If you have the Local Admin rights on your server machine and you are using windows login to connect to the sql server you should be able to delete the maintanence jobs.

if you already have tried to delete them then try refreshing the server instance and check.

  • I currently have domain admin rights and am sysadmin in Sql Server.

  • I think I was in the same case before. I had to use SSIS UI to delete a package because normal DB Engine connection would not do it.
