Backup files

    Greetings,

    Could anyone kindly advise me on backing up a SQL database/ table to disc or tape. I wish to save a stand alone file, that can be stored as a backup.

    I have tried exporting through DTS, but this doesn't enable one to save to a specified drive or location

    I have attempted copying a table from Enterprise manager and pasting, but this somewhat opportunistic approach didn't work either.

    Any tips would be much appreciated.

    If you edit the dts package and add an ftp task to it you can always ftp the file.

    Thanks, I might have to do that.

    Quick question! Call me cynical, but how does everyone back up there SQL Databases in case of physical damage to the server?
