Are the posted questions getting worse?

Boy the forums are getting buggier all the time. I have had several notifications this week that when I click the link it takes to the topic but that single post is the only one that displays. You then have to click on the link in the breadcrumbs to view the full topic. Very strange.

I can still see all of the threads and posts on the thread.  I can also still see his account although his name has been crossed out as if he were a spammer.  I'll send an email to the WebMaster and see what's up.  Bloody spam engine may have got him.

Honestly.  Considering his language and reaction to people trying to help him - I'm surprised he's still allowed to access the forum.

We must be talking about someone else.  Looking back at his posts, I see absolutely nothing offensive.  Unless someone deleted a post somewhere, the 3 cited posts and a half dozen others that I have been able to see have been both humble and appreciative.  His tone is the same on another forum that I sometimes engage in.

I wouldn't call any of the quoted text (quoted, since he apparently deleted all his posts, hence the quoted text's all that's left) humble or appreciative.

Yowch!  Things sure took a turn for the worse on those.  I can see on those threads were someone may have taken comments about poor design and the like very wrong or personally (especially if it was his design) but his responses went way over the top.

People are going to need water, food, shelter, but logistics are going to be overwhelmed. Donate to something like the above, most likely. If there's someone local, send baby diapers, feminine hygiene products, bottled water, etc. My workplace has an office down there that's still operating, but I don't have a way to get them anything. I'll check and let you know if they come up with something.

Work says they don't have anything yet, but they're working on it

I didn't see anything too crazy in the responses either. He does seem to have been extremely sensitive.

However, it can serve as a reminder for all of us to remember to try to keep the tone civil and professional. We sure don't want to sound like SO or SE.

Yes, I've seen something like that but only with this thread.

I've seen the same thing on this thread, but not on any others.  It doesn't happen all the time either.

When I see the single post, I can click on previous, which takes me back.
But the last page I came from is not listed and I cannot get back to it.
Might want to check and see if this only happens when a new page is generated with a single post.

And now mine is normal. Would be a fun one to test.
Seems the #bm tag was missing had just a PageIndex when this happened.

It is a bit. They can be pretty harsh over there though.

On Stack Overflow? I guess. I don't spend any time there to know for sure, but I suppose a certain level of undesirable behaviour is inevitable at their (scary) scale.
On dba.se we very rarely have problems of that sort, and when we do, they are resolved pretty quickly (and constructively where possible).
We have a strong Be Nice policy, and an active community committed to upholding those standards.
Nowhere is perfect, of course, what with people being people and all that (especially on the Internet) 🙂

  • Ugh, those last couple days before both a "regular" long weekend (Labor Day weekend here in the US) and a "really long, long weekend that you're going somewhere fun for" (Labor Day weekend with extra days off) weekend...
You don't want to get into anything too involved that might be left hanging partway done while you're gone, you don't want to get someone else going on one of their projects that's holding you up from a migration because you'll probably need to leave it half done...
And keeping focused on work is tough (which is why I'm posting here at the moment.)

Plus, you've got people already off for the long weekend, so the work load is down...

Nice. Mine is the exact opposite. We go live this weekend with a project we have been working on for close to three years (a replacement for our ERP). We are nowhere ready to launch but damnit we are going this weekend no matter what.
