Always on Node requirements

  • Can Always on be configured between SQL 2014 RTM on Node 1 and SQL 2014 SP2 node 2. so here the SQL patch levels are different.

  • As per my perception it can be configured , as per Microsoft msdn Each server instance must be running the Enterprise Edition of SQL Server 2014 and it does not tell anything about product level of Instances. I cant say it firmly as didn't see such scenario practically. But it is always recommended to have latest update , why you want to keep one node SQL 2014 RTM and another one SQL 2014 SP2?

you may refer below link for always on prerequisits -

You know what I've never actually tried it and not sure I'd want to , espaecially as in some relaeses there were bugs with AO groups.
Not wise, make sure they're all same patch level
