Access Runtime, ODBC, and SQL 2000 Ugliness

  • Greetings!

Here is the situation: I have an Access DB that uses linked tables to a DB in a SQL Server 2000.  The users will be entering data into the database from multiple locations and their boss will be running reports on that data.  My users want to use Access Runtime to enter this data so that they don't have to purchase a Access license.

The problem is that I can't get the Access database to come up in Runtime.  It just shows a blank screen even though I have given them rights to the Access file and have given them full rights through SQL authentication.

Did I mention that we run on Novell?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • If you are using access runtime then the users will not have access to the database window. You will need to setup a startup form and develop an interface for them to enter the data.

  • Thanks.  That is why it worked before and not now.  They forgot to put the form back on when the rewrote it.

Let us see if that is all I need...
