5 Node all active 4 Instance SQL 2008 r2 Cluster

  • Hi All,

I have recently configured a 5 node, 4 instance SQL 2008 cluster. We configured each instance to listen only on its specific IP address so that we can point dns names for different applications to different resources. Getting this far took a decent amount of research and we were able to get this up and running.

Now, with that being said, we have 2 primary data drives on a 3Par SAN and we take snapshots of those drives to present to each of the other nodes. Everything here is fine as well except for one scenario. When we fail the resources over to the same node we cannot mount the primary data drive and its snapshot to the same box because they both have the same signature.

Does anybody happen to have experience with this type of setup? Any help would be sooo greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all in advance,

    Paul

  • Hi All,

As it turns out, in Windows 2008 Server it will check for signature conflicts before bringing disks online. We can then change the signature manually while the disk is offline to avoid the conflicts.

    Thanks,

    Paul
