NYC MSBI NYC Event - Evolved BI with SQL Server “Denali”

,

While many of us SQL Server enthusiasts in the community will be at PASS Summit 2011, all next week, the local Microsoft BI NYC UserGroup is hosting an event with BI expert Andrew Brust, (blog|twitter) CEO of Blue Badge Insights, on Monday, October 10, 2011. (Read below for details).  He is giving a talk specifically for SQL Server/BI folks, called "Evolved BI with SQL Server Denali."

Incidentally, Andrew will be one of our premium speakers for the coming up on November 12, 2011, SQLInspireNYC 2011 event !  He will be giving away some FREE discount codes for the SQLInspire event, exclusive to his MSBINYC attendees.  Don't forget that we'll be giving away a brand new copy of Visual Studio 2010.  (You can still REGISTER for SQLInspire.) Andrew's SQLInspire talk will be on:

Big Data, BI, Big Deal! by Andrew Brust - SQLInspireNYC 2011

Big Data, NoSQL, Column Stores and Data Warehouse Appliances are pretty lofty things, riding high in their hype cycles. But if they can’t be reconciled with enterprise database technology, then they’re of little use. In this INSPIRE talk, Microsoft-focused analyst and MS BI expert Andrew Brust will brief you on these technologies and then decode them, by showing you where they’ve landed in the Microsoft stack, on-premises and in the cloud.

Evolved BI with SQL Server “Denali” - MSBINYC User Group Meeting...

The next version of SQL Server, code-named “Denali,” steps up Microsoft’s BI game significantly. To start with, PowerPivot’s technology is now part of Analysis Services, in the form of BI Semantic Model (BISM) databases, and there are improvements to PowerPivot itself that everyone should know about. Next is project “Crescent,” which provides ad hoc, interactive data visualization and analysis. And even the non-BI world gets BI functionality in Denali, now that the VertiPaq columnar engine has been implemented for SQL Server relational databases. In this session, we’ll review all of these new capabilities in a demo-heavy manner. We’ll also learn about updates to Master Data Services and the introduction of Data Quality Services, Microsoft’s new data cleansing tool. Come to this session and get caught up on what’s next in Microsoft BI.
