November 2012 – Monthly SQL Server Checklist

,

Checklist

Last week was the PASS Summit and there were a few cool announcements made.  One in particular was the release of SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 – that means it’s time to really start looking at what this update does for your environment.  Also, if you are one of those that believes in the “SP1 myth” then, hopefully, you’ll start taking a serious look at SQL Server 2012.

Now the real point of this post is to remind you of the need check your environments on a monthly basis.  SQL Server does a pretty good job of taking care of itself, but when we forget about it, then things tend to go wrong.  And it always seems to be the things that we don’t have time to check into.  That’s why checking your environment with the monthly SQL Server checklist is such an important thing to do.  You can find a link to the checklist on TechNet on the Related Resources panel.

November Updates

The updates for this month include:

If you have time to take a look at it, the SQL Server 2012 Product Guide has been updated.  Some great examples and information on the release are included.

Something Missing?

Is there something missing in this list that you think should be included?  Leave a comment and I’ll add it in for next month.
