As I was surfing around twitter after the marathon TV event that was the Royal Wedding came to end last friday I noticed a tweet by @MicrosoftSQLCSS announcing the release of SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) v.5.0. This is free to download tool that helps you migrate from other platforms like MySQL, Oracle, Sybase and Access. I say migrate I guess if I wanted to be controversial I call it upgrading, but I won’t 😉

I haven’t had a chance to download and try the new version yet but it will help you convert database in any of the above platforms to SQL Server, including Denali,  or if the cloud is your thing SQL Azure.
