Daily Coping 9 Jun 2022

,

I started to add a daily coping tip to the SQLServerCentral newsletter and to the Community Circle, which is helping me deal with the issues in the world. I’m adding my responses for each day here. All my coping tips are under this tag.

Today’s tip is to give someone a sincere positive message or compliment.

I think it is important to provide feedback to others, both critical and positive. A balance is needed, and I work to try and be sure that I provide both. This isn’t because I don’t think people can take criticisms, but rather than I believe there are often good and bad things and as a human, I want to see both.

Since I was just traveling, I had a couple places to do this. I got to think William and Ben for DataGrillen, both in person and online.

I also had a few people wheel me around airports as part of the wheelchair assistance program. I made sure to thank, and tip, all of them. In fact, I exchanged some bills before I left the US to be sure I had some small bills around. I hadn’t quite calculated well enough and landed in Denver with only a couple singles and a $10. The gentleman was great getting me from the airplane to my car and deserved a hearty thank you and the $10 bill.
