Daily Coping 24 Mar 2022

,

I started to add a daily coping tip to the SQLServerCentral newsletter and to the Community Circle, which is helping me deal with the issues in the world. I’m adding my responses for each day here. All my coping tips are under this tag.

Today’s tip is:  If you find yourself rushing, make an effort to slow down.

I’m often rushing. My life gets chaotic, usually because of my own choices, and I find myself trying to cram lots of things into a day. Work, exercise, coaching, fixing something at the ranch, guitar, some Duolingo lessons, and more. During the pandemic I liked the slower pace and stopping to cook most nights, though I ended up gaining a COVID-20+ pounds. Or a COVID-10 kg.

I still do some cooking, but with less alcohol and less snacking.

I was rushing around last week on Wednesday, as that’s a day I work, try to get some exercise, and also have to coach at night. This week I decided to try and slow down. Since I cook, I decided to do some prep and multi-task with some Redgate videos I needed to catch up with while I got dinner ready.

I relaxed after practice with a guitar, but no goals, just some light strumming and unwinding from the day. It helped to relax me after a busy, but not too rushed a day.
