Emergency!!!!!!!!! I have 5 db’s in Production , no one can connect to these DB’s, system is primary business critical Please help.

Yes, i can connect using SSMS. However in object explorer details i see only database names i don't see any details for these databases.

When you are using SSMS, are you on the server, or on your workstation? Have you tried connecting from a different workstation, or from a different server?
We cannot tell much from all that stuff that is listed in your post.
Can you connect using the command line tools?
Are you the only one that is screaming, or is everyone screaming?
Have you bounced that box yet? Are the services still running on the box?

Yes, i can connect using SSMS. However in object explorer details i see only database names i don't see any details for these databases.
If you open a query window and try SELECT * FROM <database name>.sys.objects, what error do you get?
Are there any errors relating to these databases in the SQL error log?
If you query sys.databases, what is the value of the state_desc column for these databases?
Has the SQL service been restarted recently?

When you are using SSMS, are you on the server, or on your workstation? Have you tried connecting from a different workstation, or from a different server?We cannot tell much from all that stuff that is listed in your post.
Can you connect using the command line tools?
Are you the only one that is screaming, or is everyone screaming?
Have you bounced that box yet? Are the services still running on the box?

Using SSMS on 2008 from the client, the databases are SQL 2000. I can connect using SSMS to server why do i need to try connect using command line.
No, Do you want me to bounce the box without knowing the root cause? I don't think that's a good idea. Yes, off course. How can i connect using SSMS if SQL services are not running.

The fact that the DB server is SQL 2000 is rather an important one....
Ok, amend my earlier suggestion, what does SELECT name, status, status2 FROM sysdatabases return for the databases that you can't connect to?
Still interested in the exact error you get when trying to query one of those databases from a query window
Still very interested in the SQL error log. Any messages relating to those databases.

SSMS or Enterprise manager is only a client, like a web browser. you do not have to be connected to the Internet to open a web browser.
So how do you know the services are up and running? I would bounce the services. Logging in to SQL using the command line tool will tell you instantly if you can use other means to log in.
I would use Query Analyzer or Enterprise manager since these are SQL 2000 boxes. It could be something as simple as the .NET framework on your own workstation. That is why I asked if you could log into the database from the actual server, or from another server or workstation. To see if you are getting the exact same errors from a different box. Take pieces out of the puzzle.
Tell us what you have tried so far to determine if the databases are actually down. Is everyone in the company screaming that they cannot connect? If this is a website backend, is the site no longer showing data correctly? Tell us more than you have. Where did you get the info that you posted in your original message

This seems different from the posted issue.
Is nobody able to connect to the databases, or just not able to see properties?
If it is that you are not able to see properties, are you using an account with adequate permissions?

What do you see if you open databases from SQL 2000 client\box itself? do you see them as suspect mode?
